GCfGE’s Consultant Bench
Our Consultant Bench is comprised of roughly 50 gender experts who work closely with our in-house technical leads to deliver quality work aligned with the Center’s approach to gender equality. Once a consultant’s expertise is requested on a project, they work in partnership with our GCfGE technical leads who support and oversee their work development and serve as a bridge to our partners.
Starting in 2019, the GCfGE Consultant Bench was created to complement our programmatic team of experts to provide advisory and technical gender integration support for program and strategy design and implementation, data analysis, capacity building and tool development. The combination of staff expertise and a pre-vetted consultant bench ensures our project teams constitute the skills and experience required to provide context-specific recommendations across a vast range of projects.
Unlike traditional consultant rosters, our bench is a curated network. Every member consultant is trained in our approaches and actively managed by our team which ensures consistent, high-quality delivery on every engagement.
Application Process
Over the past seven years, we have received approximately 800 applications for the GCfGE Consultant Bench. Each applicant goes through a hiring process where we learn more about their sectoral and geographic expertise, skills, and previous gender integration work. All consultants who are invited to join the GCfGE Consultant Bench are required to complete customized onboarding sessions to ensure equity and to feel prepared for upcoming projects. Throughout this onboarding process, our technical leads work closely with each consultant to share our approach to gender equality, our programmatic services, and provide detailed feedback on their initial projects.
Joining the GCfGE Consultant Bench is not a guarantee of work since we do not always have visibility to the on-demand projects that will arise. When we receive a new project, our team reviews our consultant bench to see who may be a good fit based on their skills and expertise. If the project matches a consultant’s professional background, our team will see if they are interested and available to join the project team. This unique model allows our team to rely on a robust consultant bench, while offering consultants the flexibility to join projects when interested and available.
Our bench also grows with demand. If a need falls outside our current expertise, we have a proven process for identifying, vetting, and onboarding the right specialist quickly.

AI Expert (Gender + International Development)
The Global Center for Gender Equality is seeking qualified mid- to senior-level consultants to provide technical and strategic gender expertise at the intersection of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and international development. This work is supported by a leading global foundation working to broaden access to AI, health, financial, and agricultural advisory services for people living in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). This foundation partners with companies, NGOs, universities, and others seeking to promote inclusive AI design and delivery to ensure systems benefit women and men across target geographies in Africa and Asia.
