GCfGE Consultant Bench
✦ Our Consultant BenchOur Consultant Bench is comprised of roughly 50 gender experts who work closely with our in-house technical leads to deliver quality work aligned with the Center’s approach to gender equality.
Once a consultant’s expertise is requested on a project, they work in partnership with our GCfGE technical leads who support and oversee their work development and serve as a bridge to our partners.
Unlike traditional consultant rosters, our bench is a curated network.
Every member consultant is trained in our approaches and actively managed by our team which ensures consistent, high-quality delivery on every engagement.
Starting in 2019, the GCfGE Consultant Bench was created to complement our programmatic team of experts to provide advisory and technical gender integration support for program and strategy design and implementation, data analysis, capacity building and tool development. The combination of staff expertise and a pre-vetted consultant bench ensures our project teams constitute the skills and experience required to provide context-specific recommendations across a vast range of projects.

Over the past seven years, we've received roughly 800 applications for the GCfGE Consultant Bench. Each applicant goes through a hiring process that assesses their sectoral and geographic expertise, skills, and track record in gender integration consulting. Consultants who join complete customized onboarding designed to ensure equity and readiness for upcoming projects, working closely with our technical leads to learn our approach to gender equality consulting, our programmatic services, and get detailed feedback on their first projects.
Joining the bench doesn't guarantee work, since project needs are on-demand and don't always align with timing. When a new project comes in, our team reviews the bench for consultants whose skills and expertise are a strong match, then confirms their interest and availability. This model gives us a deep, reliable bench of gender equality consulting expertise while giving consultants the flexibility to engage only when it works for them.
The bench also grows with demand: when a project calls for expertise outside our current roster, we have a proven process to identify, vet, and onboard the right specialist quickly.
